This is to inform that Assignment No. 1 will be opened on May 25, 2015 and due date of assignment submission will be June 1, 2015.
A 24 hours extra/grace period after the due date is usually available to overcome uploading difficulties which may be faced by the students on last date.  This extra time should only be used to meet the emergencies; and above mentioned due date should always be treated as final to avoid any inconvenience..

Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this assignment, students will be able to: • Understand the basics of research variables • Differentiate between independent and dependent variables
Dear Students, Given below are few case scenarios. Your task is to identify the independent and the dependent variables from each case along with the justification of your identified variable.
Instructions: 1. Write your answers just in the table given below. 2. Do not copy the words of handouts or internet while writing your justification; otherwise no marks will be awarded. .
Case # 1 In a University, students of BS (Psychology) were divided into two groups for the same course. One group was given the traditional handbook to prepare for the course. The other group was given an interactive textbook having research findings and experiments included in it. After the course ended, final term exams marks of both groups were compared with each other.
Case # 2 Sidra, a student of botany, wants to study that how colors of light can impact the growth of plants. For this purpose, she buys 5 sunflower plants of the same height and age. She places them in white, blue, red, green and black light, respectively. All the plants are given 25 ml of water every day for three weeks. After three weeks, Sidra watches the plants and take their measurements.
Case # 3 Amir hypothesized that listening to music in workplace causes an increase in the amount of work carried out by the employees. To test this hypothesis, he devised an experimental and a control group.
