Jhelum is without any doubt a strong hold of PMLN. In 2008
general elections PMLN clean swept Jhelum by winning both national
assembly and 4 provincial assembly seats from here. NA 62 Jhelum-I and
NA 63 Jhelum-II currently belong to two brothers Raja Safdar Khan and
Raja Asad Khan respectively and they are sons of EX MNA Raja Mohammad
Afzal Khan. Raja Asad Khan not only in 2008 won this seat but he was
also victorious in 2002 PMLQ and PPP have good vote bank here but not
good enough to challenge PMLN supremacy in Jhelum. However since Raja
Afzal Khan joined PPP along with his sons in January 2013 which is good
enough to end PMLN supremacy in Jhelum.

General Elections 2013 Jhelum II Party Position
A seat adjustment between Peoples Party and PMLQ can create huge problems for PMLN in upcomming elections 2013. For Raja Asad it will be very hard to maintain his winning streak as he has decided to contest next elections as an idependent candidate since PPP failed to keep its promise with him. PTI on ground and on papers has emerged as a very strong contestant and its probable candidate (Usman Chohan) is also in a good position to create an upset. It will be a close four way tie between Raja Asad (Independent), PMLN, PTI and PPP + PMLQ.
